Earlier this summer our Business Development Manager – Renewables, Callum Maxwell was one of the guests in an engaging Industry Spotlight panel session during OGV Energy’s OGV Live – Offshore Wind special. The discussion explored opportunities for innovation within the supply chain, among many relevant topics. Callum talked about offshore wind’s “elephant in the room”, namely the critical issue of cable and termination faults and failures, and our own step change technology ECG™ to address and alleviate these.

We are delighted that ECG™, our step change in holistic subsea cable monitoring, has been spotlighted and featured as an example of “great innovation” in the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) Innovation Workstream’s 2023 Innovation Focus Report. This OWIC initiative has comprised numerous key industry stakeholders, including RenewableUK and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult among others. OWIC works collaboratively to seek positive change and accelerate the offshore wind sector in the UK. ECG™ is one of just four case studies to be featured in this report, with our contract to monitor the condition and integrity of the inter-array cables on the vast Dogger Bank Wind Farm phases A and B an aspect highlighted.

Earlier this year, our Applications Engineer and current Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) Early Career Professional of the Year Laura Carrigan took part in an engaging Young Professionals Webinar. Hosted and moderated by OEUK, the event looks at a broad range of talking points including the current outlook for the energy sector and makes reference to its latest Business Outlook Report. Laura puts across her views on the changing landscape and trends within the industry, the exciting introduction of new technologies, and gives some great advice for other young people looking to make their mark in the energy business.

Last month, Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) featured Proserv as its Member in Focus. Senior Vice President Iain Smith took the chance to answer the questions posed, and he talked about a broad range of themes, including our on-going success in the subsea market, where, as one example, our collaboration with Trendsetter Engineering regarding high integrity pressure protection systems (HIPPS), has resonated strongly with clients. Iain also references our highly skilled and growing service business in the Middle East, our on-going innovative work in offshore wind and digital technology, as well as our FRESH Proserv values that underpin everything we do.

The Energy Industries Council (EIC) featured our fresh agreement with Intelligent Plant, the Aberdeen based software engineering firm and data analytics experts, in the news pages of a recent issue of its Inside Energy magazine. Our new arrangement extends a previous alliance announced in late 2020 and sees CEO Davis Larssen join Intelligent Plant’s Board as a non-executive director. The tie-up underpins our collaboration to roll out further digital technology services for the energy market.

Our Vice President, Digital Innovation Stuart Harvey and the Founder and CEO of Ortomation.io Paul Oram recently gave an exclusive interview to OGV Energy on the sidelines of Global Offshore Wind (GOW) in London. Stuart and Paul discussed our on-going technology tie-up, which was announced last summer, and shared insights on the potential capabilities of ORTO, an agent based real-time optimisation technology that is currently being developed, and how it can deliver dynamic operational control and live strategy adjustment across offshore wind farms.

Paul Cook, our Vice President, Renewables, has contributed a thought leader to news platform Energy Voice looking at the need for offshore wind to confront the challenges that stand in the way of its smooth and swift acceleration in the coming decade. Paul references the successful Subsea Cable Insurance Workshop event we sponsored in London last month, hosted by the Global Underwater Hub, which brought stakeholders together to spur fundamental change around cable assets and to initiate a path towards best practice standards. Please visit the Energy Voice website to read the story.

Our step change technology in holistic subsea cable monitoring, ECG™, has been the subject of a feature story on the Offshore Wind Industry Council’s (OWIC) Collaborating for Growth Playbook platform. ECG™’s journey from a FEED study in 2019 to being deployed on Equinor’s Hywind Scotland floating wind farm this very year is set out, including the key parts collaboration, support funding and industrial sponsorship have played in its exciting success. Please visit the OWIC website to read it:

Paul Cook, our Vice President, Renewables has contributed an exclusive interview this month to OGV Energy’s Offshore Wind June special issue as the lead-up to RenewableUK’s Global Offshore Wind event gathers pace. In a wide-ranging discussion, Paul speaks about our ECG™ holistic subsea cable monitoring system and its continuing progress with its upcoming deployment on Equinor’s Hywind Scotland floating wind farm, as well as our ground-breaking work in real-time optimisation across wind assets alongside our technology partners.
